Joshua is now on the committee of the Bowen Association of Australia. One of our top priorities is organising and funding high-level research into the efficacy of Bowen. This research will help Bowen achieve more acceptance in the community and with health funds providers.

Q: How do you know where to do the Bowen moves? Is it based on the pulse?

A: In Bowtech Bowen (the strand of Bowen I practice) the precise location of each Bowen move and the way in which it is performed is as close as possible to how Tom Bowen actually did them. Depending on what a client presents with, a Bowen practitioner will select the most appropriate moves or procedures (sequence of moves) to address their complaint. The moves themselves though do not vary - they are all pre-established and perfomed in the same location. This is similar to acupuncture in that they use precise needling points along the meridians that do not vary.
