Note: Because of small class sizes and the tendency for them to be fully booked, no refund will be given for the course, unless the spot can be filled before course commencement.
What to Expect
The guided meditation sessions with Joshua are direct, practical and simple. A sensation-based, grounded approach to meditation is taught, which most participants can easily relate to. The classes are suitable for all levels of experience.
Classes are free of any religious affiliation and everything is clearly explained without needing to use Eastern terms. There are exercises each week to help integrate the benefits of meditation into the everyday life.
Class sizes are kept small to allow for personal guidance and individual attention. To assist in maintaining an alert attention during the meditation session, we all sit in chairs.
Many participants attend the course multiple times to deepen and reinforce the practise.
Meditation has become increasingly popular in recent times as it allows one to re-connect with a natural state of calm and peacefulness. It is an effective antidote to the stresses, strains and messages of our modern world. Meditation practise creates more space within, allowing greater perspective and less entanglement with everyday circumstances. Through meditation you learn how to not only “switch off”, but how to not be “switched on” by circumstances in the first place. The meditative state is your natural state, behind the busyness of living.

What is the process of meditation?
In the beginning the practice of meditation is to bring about a sense of calmness and clarity during the meditation session itself. Over time you learn to carry this sense of inner calm into other areas of your life, including those that are stressful or hectic. The calmness and clarity engendered by meditation will eventually permeate throughout your whole life.
How this relates to stillness
Calmness and clarity come when one is still within. Calmness refers to the stillness of emotion and clarity refers to the stillness of mind. The stiller you become the less you will be affected by the events of the day. The clarity that comes with stillness gives you the intelligence not to identify with and get emotional about the situations you are in. It is freeing and empowering to see that you have the ability to stay clear of your old, habitual thought and emotion patterns.
How stillness is developed through meditation
One of the most beneficial meditation exercises to develop greater stillness is to focus on the sensation of the body. Inside the body there is a natural tingling or sensation throughout. By focussing on sensation, we redirect our mind’s usual fixation on thoughts and feelings and provide a focal point or ground for our attention. This gradually creates space from the mind and emotions and gives greater clarity and perspective.

Joshua began meditation over twenty years ago and has been teaching it the last six years. His practise has brought to his life profound insight and clarity, and developed within him a deep sense of well-being and stillness.

"It’s been really good learning to meditate and checking in each week with how I am emotionally. Prior to this I’d been too busy to think about myself and how the outside world affects me. I noticed how I fill my day with busyness and learnt that it is ok not to always be doing and how beneficial it is to just relax.
By getting in touch with my inner self I realised that my life could be different to what it currently is.
